EVAN R. BIVIN STERLING- Evan R. Bivin, 88, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at CGH Medical Center. He was employed by National Manufacturing as a foreman. He retired in 1982 after 42 years of employment. Evan was born May 29, 1920 in St. Edwards, NE, the son of Roy and Bessie (Baker) Bivin. He married Elizabeth M. Gilroy on May 14, 1942. She survives. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Survivors also include one daughter, Marilyn M. Mathers of St. Charles; one son, Daniel E. (Dottie) Bivin of Bowdon, GA; two sisters, Doris (Harold) Morris of Dixon and Sue McNinch of East Moline; one brother Stanley (Joann) Bivin of Morrison; six grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard W. Bivin and one sister, Marian P. Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Schilling Funeral Home, with the Reverend Paul Judd, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, January 16, 2009 at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Evan Bivin Memorial Fund.
