Obituary of Warren Planthaber

WARREN H. PLANTHABER STERLING- Warren H. "Warrenie" Planthaber , 85, died February 8, 2009 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the business agent for Local 727 for twenty-seven years, prior to retiring in 1986. Warrenie was born in Sterling on June 15, 1923. The son of Warren and Jenette (Ellis) Planthaber. He was a World War II Veteran, where he was wounded in action. He married Orla Jean Dahlberg on October 31, 1945. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2006. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and an avid lover of animals. Survivors include two sisters, Joyce Curtis of Boyles, AK and Audrey (Don) Podkulski of Sterling; one sister-in-law, Ruth (Homer Osborn) Ramage of Rock Falls; one brother-in-law, Russell Garrett of Fulton; best friend, Norma Contreras of Dixon and many nieces, nephews and good friends. There will be no funeral services. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. A memorial had been established to Hospice on the Rock River Valley and Happy Tails Humane Society.
