ROCK FALLS �" Mr. Richard J. Wessels, 78, died Saturday evening at Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.
Richard J. Wessels was born December 2, 1930 in Sterling, the son of William F. and Stella B. Sheley Wessels. He married Deloris (Sutton) Wessels April 29, 1949
He is survived by Deloris; five sons, Jim "Cat" Wessels, Steve Wessels, Kurt (Julie) Wessels all of Sterling, and Alan and Brian Wessels both of Rock Falls; two daughters, Frances Wessels of Rock Falls and Debra (Dave) Williams of Sterling; one sister, Marion (Stan) Ferry of CA; one brother, Russell Wessels of Bend, OR; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Daniel Wessels, three brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at Schilling Funeral Home.
