Obituary of Roy Adams

STERLING- Roy D. Adams, 70, 0f Sterling, died December 24, 2009 after a battle with pancreatic cancer for over a year and a half. Roy was born August 11, 1939 in Buda the son of Frank E. and Johanna Marie (Doescher) Adams. He married Linda G. Matthews on November 5 1960 in Rock Falls. Roy was a man of many talents. He was born on a farm, and went into farming in his early years in Morrison. Roy then tried factory work for a few years. His best talents were in carpentry where he was a union carpenter with Local 790 for 11 years until tough economical times like today, forced him to go back to factory work at RB&W until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed camping, fishing, auctions, fixing things and spending time with family and friends "at the river" and known to many as "Uncle Punk". Survivors include his wife Linda; one daughter Gayle (John) Farny; two sons Michael (Amy) Adams of Sterling, and Tom (Tracy) Adams of Rock Falls; eight grandchildren Stefanie, Suzanna, and Jeffrey Farny of Sterling, Joshua, James, and Devon Adams of Sterling, Josie and Jessa Adams of Rock Falls; one great-grandchild Alexis Stewart of Sterling; one sister Lois (Clayton) Lindgren of Minnesota; two Brothers Clyde Adams of Norwalk, CA, and Harold Adams of Dixon; and also several nieces and nephews. Preceeding him in death were his parents; five brothers George, Earl, Harry, Don "Butch" and Lyle; five sisters Dorothy, Mary, Helen, Ruth, and Carol "Sue". The funeral sevice is 10:30 AM Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at Schilling Funeral Home, with Dalmus Meeks, of Harvest Time Bible Church, officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Schilling Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.
