DR. PETER BROOKS SHAFFER MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Dr. Peter Brooks Shaffer, 64, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Peter was born October 9, 1945 in Sterling, the son of Robert L. and Helenlea Shaffer. Peter graduated from STHS in 1963, Miami, OH in 1967 with BA, University of Illinois MBA in 1969. He married Jeanne Metzger on June 1, 1974, in Sterling. He then obtained a doctorate in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin in 1976. He dedicated his life to teaching. He taught marketing at Milton College, Monmouth College and was a full professor in the Business Dept at Western Illinois University where he taught Marketing and Advertising He retired from Western in 2000 and moved to Myrtle Beach to pursue his love of golf. Peter was an avid golfer and participated in the Lincoln Highway tournaments for many years. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of Conway, SC; his brother, Jonathan (Lee) Shaffer, of Alamo, CA; and his sister, Shawn (Bill) Strecker, of Chicago; and his step granddaughter, Eleena King. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to Christ The Servant Lutheran Church in Conway S.C.
