Obituary of Arthur Folkers

ARTHUR "ART" C. FOLKERS ROCK FALLS - Arthur "Art" C. Folkers, 101, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 in Rock Falls. He farmed for most of his life. Arthur was born November 6, 1908 in Sterling, the son of Antone and Katherine (Dirks) Folkers. He married Erma Wessels on February 14, 1934 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on June 19, 1984. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling. Survivors include one daughter, Susan (James) Brady, of Dixon; one son-in-law, Peter Walter, of South Barrington; two grandchildren, Rebecca Brady, of Alexandria, VA, and Gregory (Jana) Brady, of Rockford; and one great-grandchild, Madison Brady. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joanne Walter; his sister, Rosina Folkers; two brothers, George and Herald Folkers; and a grandson, Brett Walter. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Judith Huseth, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
