JENNY IRENE SALVESON READEL STERLING - Jenny Irene Salveson Readel, "Sally" to all who knew her, 94, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Sally was born April 24, 1916 in Sioux Rapids, IA, the daughter of Thomas and Inga Johanna (Jensen) Salveson. After graduating high school, Sally went to Rockford Nursing School, graduating as an RN in August, 1936. She went to work as an RN at Cook County Hospital. Sally married Harold H. Readel on March 15, 1942 in Woodstock. Sally actively supported Harold in Sterling Noontime Rotary. She was also active in her P.E.O. Chapter BH, holding all offices. She loved bridge, reading, knitting and gardening. Sally also loved her times spent at Marco Island, FL. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Harold; one daughter, Susan (Ray) Kline, of Naperville; two sons, John (Mary) Readel, of Sterling, and Robert (Sandy) Readel, of Ottumwa, IA; and nine grandchildren, Sara Readel, Curtis Readel, Kari Readel, Drew Readel, Anne Readel, Libby Readel, Tom Readel, Meredith Kline, Ray Kline. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, June 4, 2010, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Ted Carnahan, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 AM, Friday at the church. A memorial has been established to the St. John's Lutheran Church and Unity Hospice of Western Illinois.
