EVA M. HOLMES
STERLING- Mrs. Eva M. Holmes, 99, died Tuesday, June 08, 2010. Eva Holmes was born on August 10, 1910 in Hersman, IL, the daughter of Oliver Commodore and Maggie Robinson Ames. She married Howard M. Holmes, Sr. October 31, 1926 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1977.
Mrs. Holmes was a member of the First Christian Church of Sterling for over fifty-years.
She is survived by one son, Howard M. (Betty) Holmes of Washington; and two daughters, Janie (Rex) McCormick of Kewanee and Juli (Wilmer) Houck of Sterling; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one grand-daughter.
Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Schilling Funeral Home, with burial at Riverside Cemetery immediately following. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.
A Memorial has been established to the Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
