- Theodore "Ted" M. Aggen, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Genesis East Hospital, Davenport, IA. He was a salesman at Vock Distributing for 15 years prior to retirement. He served as the Sterling Mayor from 1995 - 2007. Ted was born January 21, 1930 in Maywood, the son of Render and Martha (Koenes) Aggen. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sterling. He served on the Illinois Municipal League Board and Northern Illinois Mayors Association. Ted was a member of the American Legion Post 296, where he served as Commander twice and County Commander and member of Thirteenth District Past Commanders. He was also a member of Sterling-Rock Falls Elks and Moose Lodge and past president of Sterling-Rock Falls Jaycees Survivors include his wife, Jackie; three daughters, Dixie (Bill) Anderson of Rock Island, Deborah (Gary) Pool of O'Fallon, MO, and Kathryn (Jeff) Richards of Sterling; one step-daughter, (Cathy) Rosenow of Aurora; four step-sons Randy (Missy) Moore of Rock Falls, Tim (Pam) Moore of Sterling, Scott (Nikkie) Estabrook of Austin, TX and Ryan (Stephanie) Poffenberger of Enterprise, AL; one sister, Marian Washburn of Sterling; one brother Richard (Judy) Aggen of Sterling; one grandson, Michael Henry; one great-grandson, Peyton Henry and four step-grandchildren, Savanna and Zack Estabrook and Chase Gowen and Ella Poffenberger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne; one sister Jeanne Naftzger; one brother John Aggen and one step-son, Larry Moore Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Reverend Christina Berry, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, with military honors. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM Friday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. A memorial has been established.
