- Marjorie L. Mathes, 79, formerly of Sterling, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at Countryside Care Center in Aurora. Marjorie was born September 13, 1930 in Fairfield, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Horton) Etheridge. She married William Mathes on July 9, 1949 in Fairfield. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of First Christian Church of Sterling. Survivors include one daughter, Beth (John) Conroy, of Batavia; two sons, Rick (Connie) Mathes, of Lynchburg, VA, and David (Lacy) Mathes, of Sterling; three sisters, Imogene (Doyle) Martz, of Athens, TX, Joyce Cole, of Sterling, and Shirley (Don) Rogers, of Sullivan; three brothers, Glen (Anita) Etheridge, of Griffith, IN, Fred (LuAnne) Etheridge, of Aurora, and John Etheridge, of Plano; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Winters. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 30, 2010 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend David Yonker of First Christian Church of Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 11 AM-1 PM, prior to the service at the Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church of Sterling.
