Obituary of Ronald DeGroot

RONALD D. DEGROOT ROCK FALLS - Ronald D. DeGroot, 77, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport. He was employed as a Shipping Foreman at Northwestern Steel & Wire and retired after 35 years. Ronald was born April 17, 1933 in Garden City, SD, the son of Nicholas and Anna M. (Schmidt) DeGroot. He married Donna J. Reed on September 19, 1951 in Rock Falls. Survivors include his wife, Donna; four sons, Calvin (Lori) DeGroot, Randal DeGroot and Timothy DeGroot, all of Rock Falls, and Douglas (Terry) DeGroot, of Evansville, IN; two sisters, LaVonne (Glenn) Norman, of Tampico, and Jean (Marvin) Alt, of Rock Falls; two brothers, Donald (Helen) DeGroot, of Anaheim, CA, and Lowell DeGroot, of Lyndon; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Balsley. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with Dalmus Meeks of Harvest Time Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
