Obituary of Lyle Book

LYLE M. BOOK SAN ANTONIO, TX - Lyle M. Book, 83, formerly of Sterling & Rock Falls, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Brook Hollow Care Home, San Antonio, TX. He was co-owner of Book-Klocke Insurance Agency in Rock Falls for many years. He later joined the Peterson, Detweiler, Book and Inboden Agency. Lyle was born May 9, 1927 in Sterling, the son of Park Daniel and Emily (Brandt) Book. He married Arlene Betts on August 8, 1945 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2009. Lyle was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He also served on the Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Rock Falls Lions Club and the San Antonio Region 20 Lions Club for a total of 51 years. Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia (Rick) Brandt, of Redford, MI; one son, Kenneth (Debbie) Book, of San Antonio, TX; one brother, Clair (Clarice) Book, of San Antonio, TX; three sisters-in-law, Orla Rowland, of Sterling, Janet (Clint) Verstynen, of Rockford, and Betty Betts, of Rock Falls; five grandchildren, Heather (Justin) Plunkett, Melissa (Troy) Taylor, Daniel Brandt, Ashley (Gene) Centeno and Aaron (Taio) Book; and four great grandchildren, Hunter Plunkett and Neely, Laney and Rylan Taylor.. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fay Book. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 7, 2011 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Oehlert of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Funeral Home.
