MARLIN D. GOWAN BELLEVUE, NE - Marlin D. Gowan, 58, formerly of Morrison, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012. He was employed as a loader for UPS in Nebraska. Marlin was born January 4, 1954 in Sterling, the son of Paul and Edith (Moodie) Gowan. Marlin attended the two room school house in Round Grove, IL, and Morrison High School. He previously worked at FS in Lyndon, and Menards in Sterling. Marlin was a FFA member, and loved working on the farm while at home with his dad and brothers. He enjoyed carpentry work, repairing and modifying riding lawn mowers. He attended First Church of the Nazarene of Sterling, and later at the First Church of the Nazarene in Council Bluffs, where he helped with church dinners. Survivors include his mother, Edith; significant other, Bev Schiernbeck of Bellevue NE; one sister, Gloria Gowan,of Rock Falls; and three brothers, Al (Deb) Gowan of Rock Falls, Stephen (Mary) and Larry Gowan, both of Morrison: and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gowan. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Reverend Bob Hasselbring of the First Church of the Nazarene of Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery, Rock Falls. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM Monday, prior to services at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
