Obituary of Galen Vos

GALEN D. VOS STERLING - Galen D. Vos, 76, died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison. He was employed as an Electrician with the Local 364 Rockford Electrical. He retired in 1995 after 41 years. Galen served in the Army during the Korean War. Galen was born October 6, 1934 in Morrison, the son of Claus and Cora (Sterenberg) Vos. He married Faye C. Tegeler on August 17, 1955 in Sterling. He was a member of Bethel Reformed Church. Survivors include his wife, Faye; one daughter, Lisa Bittner, of Sterling; two sons, Brian (Kate) Vos and Jeff (Melinda) Vos, both of Sterling; one sister, Verna Bauman, of Bloomington; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Near. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Bethel Reformed Church with Pastor Ken Renkes, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, with military rites. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. A memorial has been established.
