ELFIDA M. CONTRERAS ROCK FALLS - Elfida M. Contreras, 56, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. Elfida was born September 28, 1954 in San Benito, TX, the daughter of Baldomero and Josefa (Martinez) Martinez. She married Lazaro Contreras on November 29, 1972 in San Benito, TX. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Survivors include her mother, Josefa, of San Benito, TX; her husband, Lazaro, of Rock Falls; one daughter, Belen (Javier) Garcia, of Rochelle; one son, Lazaro (Brandie) Contreras, Jr., of Sterling; one sister, Maria (Ruben) Garza, of Rock Falls; three brothers, Cruz (Irma) Martinez, of Sterling, Esteban (Nora) Martinez and Roberto (Viola) Garcia, both of San Benito, TX; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Baldomero Martinez Diaz, and one brother, Baltazar Martinez. Celebration Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Juan Ayala of St. Mary Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM, Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 6:30 PM, Friday. A memorial has been established.
