CLARENCE "BUD" W. REED STERLING - Clarence "Bud" W. Reed, 93, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at CGH Medical Center. He farmed for many years in the Sterling area. He was owner and operator of Hazelhurst Grain. Clarence was born June 17, 1918 in Sterling, the son of Ferguson and Laura (Weaver) Reed. He married Leone Bruns on November 15, 1941. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sterling, the Sterling Moose lodge, and Elks club. Clarence was a well-known cook for prime rib, and pork loin using his special seasoning. Survivors include his wife, Leone; two daughters, Donna (Rich) Strohman, of Green Valley, AZ, and Vicki (Frank) Merlak, of Sterling; six grandchildren Dawn (Scott) Bryson, Michelle (Tom) Neubauer, Tim (Sue) Litwiller, Lonny (Lori) Merlak, Teri (Danny) Schroeder, Heath (Karla) Merlak; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Mildred Schmitt, Marie Fulfs, Marian Reecher, Evelyn Reed and Lola Connell; and one brother, Donald Reed. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Mark Oehlert, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM, October 4, 2011 at the Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
