Obituary of Dorothy Book

STERLING- Dorothy S. Book, 90, of Sterling, died Friday, December 26, 2014 in her home at Good Neighbor Care. Dorothy was born on July 25, 1924, the daughter of Edwin W. and Pansy (Taylor) Saltzman. She married Leland Book on September 22, 1945 in Polo. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1999. The joy of her life was spending time with her husband and family. She was a member of First Christian Church in Sterling, a long-time member of Pine Creek Christian Church, and a member of Christian Women's Fellowship. Dorothy was also a volunteer at the CGH Medical Center Chaplin's office and the gift shop. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, baking, reading, traveling, floral arranging, and painting. Survivors include two daughters, Sara (Bill) Wills, of Bloomington, and Ellen (Doug) Bramm, of Mt. Morris; one son, Keith (Tina) Book, of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Shaure (Jon) Bolles, of Bloomington, Josef (Sarah) Wills, of Maquon, Jordan Book, of Peoria, Megan (Eric) Hlavacek, of Peoria, Tyler Book, of Hudson, Nate Bramm, of Mt. Morris, Valerie Bramm, of Oregon, and Jake (Kelly) Bramm of Bloomington; nine great-grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Bolles, Mason and Elliet Wills, Zach, Ailia, and Leland Book, Gianna and Ellie Hlavacek. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Janie Lynn Book; and one sister, Verda Quinn. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11 AM at First Christian Church in Sterling. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling is handling arrangements.
