Obituary of Barney Frerichs

- Barney Frerichs, 96, died Saturday April 15, 2012 at Coventry Living Center. Before retiring he was employed by NWS&Wire as a guard. Barney was born March 13, 1916 in Gifford, the son of Bart and Christina Post Frerichs. He married Mariann Sitter on May 18, 1939 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2007. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling for many years and Whiteside County Sr. Center. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Illinois National Guard during WWII. Survivors include one daughter Kristen (William) Fox of Novi, MI; one son Kurt (Victoria) Frerichs of Escondido, CA; two grandsons Rob (Tracey) Dace of Commerce Twp.; MI: and Greg Dace of Ames, IA; two great grandchildren Garrett Dace and Jordan Dace. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling with Reverend Judith Huseth pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5 to7 pm Tuesday, April 17, at Schilling Funeral Home. A Memorial has been established.
