Obituary of Charles Dodson

CHARLES "CHUCK" R. DODSON STERLING - Charles "Chuck" R. Dodson, 79, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at his home. He was employed as a welder for RB&W before retiring. Charles was born March 18, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Burrell and Fern (Phillips) Dodson. He married Donna Adams on November 28, 1957 in Mt. Vernon. Charles attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling. He was a member of the Rock River Carvers, Swing Stars Square Dance Club, Otaga Campground and Pharaoh Hot Rod Club in Mt. Vernon. Survivors include his wife, Donna; one daughter, Cheri (Dave) Lockhart, of Sterling; two sons, Gregory (Nancy) Dodson, of Kingwood, TX, and Bradley (Crystal) Dodson, of Rock Falls; one sister, JoAnn Lehde, of Springhill, FL; three grandchildren, Sarah Dodson, of Rock Falls, and Justin and Luke Dodson of Kingwood, TX; and two step-grandchildren, Justin Bushman, of Rock Falls, and Jessica Bushman, of Galva. He was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Dodson, in infancy; two sisters; and five brothers. Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, May 18, 2012 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Hasselbring of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Funeral Home.
