Obituary of Maureen K. Cocking

MAUREEN KAY COCKING STERLING-Maureen Kay Cocking, 75, of Sterling, passed away, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at CGH Medical Center. Maureen was born January 1, 1942 in Aurora the daughter of John M. and Eileen (Nease) Bland. She graduated in 1960 from Shabbona High School, attended Illinois State University, and graduated from Sauk Valley College. She was employed in offices at Northern Illinois University and Sauk Valley College. Maureen was a teacher’s aide and library aide at East Coloma and several Sterling schools. She married Gerald Cocking on September 5, 1964 in Shabbona. Survivors include her husband Gerald of Sterling; one son, Ryan (Erica) Cocking of Sterling; her mother Eileen Bland of Shabbona;three grandsons, Chandler Cocking of Long Grove IA and Presley Cocking and Garon Cocking both of Sterling; two step-grandchildren, Alex and Austin Todd of Leland; one brother, George Bland of Sandwich; six nieces and seven nephews. She was preceded in death by her father John M. Bland and one brother, John L. Bland. Visitation will be from 3-6 PM Monday, April 10, 2017 at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling. Private burial will be Tuesday at St. Vincent’s Cemetery Association, LaSalle. A memorial has been established.
