HAROLD C. BURKHALTER

STERLING-Harold C. Burkhalter, of Sterling, died Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his home.

He was a pharmacist for many Snyder Drug Stores prior to retirement.

  Harold was born on September 29, 1925 in Galesburg. The son of Harold and June (Coultas) Burkhalter.  He served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Mary Jo Anne DuBois on May 15, 1965 in Springfield. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2015.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sterling.

  Survivors include two daughters, Beth (Bill) Minder, of Rochester, and Patty (Thad) O’Brien, of Sterling; four sons, Bill (Laura) Burkhalter, of Arlington Heights, John (Rebecca) Burkhalter, of Aurora, Tim (Jen) Burkhalter, of Wauconda; and Bob (Brooke) Burkhalter, of Champaign; 15 grandchildren, Madison, Spencer, Tyler, Drew, Brad, Patrick, Peter, Ben, Anna, Luke, Andy, Chris, Josh, Cameron and MJ; one great-grandchild Liam.

  He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister Barbara Norton.

  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 2PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sterling, with Reverend Bruce Ludeke, officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM Saturday, prior to the service, at the church. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling.

  A memorial has been established to The Boy Scouts of America.

  Arrangements were completed by Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling.
