STERLING- Waverly C. Rotz, 98, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Mercy Health Hospital, Rockford. Waverly was born August 8, 1919 in Vera, the daughter of Robert “Roy” and Beatrice (Hall) Sharp. She married Marshall Rotz on March 6, 1937 in Macon County. He preceded her in death on July, 20, 1982.

Survivors include, two sons, Jerry (Marcella) Rotz of Corona CA, James “Marshall” Rotz of Georgia; and one brother Donald (Ruth) Sharp of Mesa, Arizona; six grandchildren, Jerry Rotz, Marshell (Anthony) Ayala, Debi (Clay) Lane, Scott (Deana) Seeley, Andra (Ron) Shaw, and Jay (Samantha Petty) Seeley; nine great grandchildren, Trey, Duran, Saryn, Stephanie, Clayton, Cody, Jake, David, and Aaron.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Nancy Seeley; one sister, Edna Letterly; and one brother, Robert Sharp.

Waverly showed her family how to live a life filled with love and faith. As a faithful friend to many she was often sought out for her expertise on matters of taste and style, especially pertaining to antiques and vintage linen. Her dignity, independence, loyalty, and compassion were evident in her long and eventful life to the very end. A life that included service in the World War 2 Manhattan Project.

Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 12:45PM Monday, January 8, 2018 at Schilling Funeral & Cremation, in Sterling. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

A memorial has been established.
