Obituary of Beverly Ruth Vandermoon

BEVERLY RUTH VANDERMOON

STERLING-Beverly Ruth Vandermoon, 89, of Sterling, died Friday, January 12, 2018 at Morningside in Sterling.

    Beverly was born June 19, 1928 in Sterling, the daughter of Robert Lynfred and D. May (Wesner) Kraft.  She graduated from Sterling High School in 1946. She married Veral E. Vandermoon on June 11, 1949 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sterling. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1999.

Beverly was employed as a secretary at the Northwestern Steel & Wire Company for three years. She and her husband farmed for many years, in the Tampico and Milledgeville areas. After leaving the farm, she worked at the Rock Falls Savings and Loan Association for over 18 years.  Beverly was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Morning Circle of the Church, the Altar Guild, the funeral lunch committee, the Nursing Home Communion Group, and other volunteer groups at the Church. She enjoyed doing many kinds of crafts and doing things with her family and friends.

    Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn (Rodney) Meiners of Freeport; one son, Eugene (Carol) Vandermoon of Rock Falls; one sister, Vera McCormick ; four grandchildren Christopher (Alejandra) Meiners, Scott (Tanya) Vandermoon, Jeffrey Meiners, and Traci (Scott) Verdery; five great-grandchildren Jacob Meiners, Emily Wiedemann, Maddie Vandermoon, Ella Verdery, and Emerson Verdery; and many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by three brothers.

    Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on  Tuesday January 16, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sterling, with the Reverend Leo Patterson officiating.Visitation will be from 9AM to 10:15 prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, in Sterling.
