Obituary of Carlene Stern

Carlene Mae Stern, 90, passed away Wednesday,  March 14, 2018 at Franklin Grove Living and Rehab Center, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born November 17, 1927, the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Letcher) Jacobs. Carlene worked at Lawrence brothers for forty years, prior to retirement.  

She married Mike Stern in 1951, he preceded her in death in 1974, she then married Edward (Doc) Stern in 1974, he passed in 1982.

Survivors included her sister Pauline Kettler and brother-in law Lyle Muntean. She had 3 nieces; 5 nephews; 5 grand nieces; 7 great nephews; 4 great-great nieces; and 17 great-great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands; three sisters, Viola Shafer, Florence Kaiser, Joyce Muntean; 3 brother in-laws, Robert Shafer, Cecil Kaiser, and Leroy Kettler and one nephew Robert K. Shafer.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM Monday March 19, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home, with Reverend Christina Berry of First Presbyterian Church, Sterling, officiating. Visitation will be Sunday March 18, 2018 from 6-8PM at Schilling Funeral Home. Private burial will take place Tuesday at Hopkins Township Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
