Richard Thielen, 89, of Sterling, died, Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Rock River Hospice and Home of Sterling.

Richard was born April 5, 1929 in Sterling, the son of LeRoy and Laura (Habben) Thielen. Dick served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the VFW, and Sterling American Legion Post 296.

Survivors include, one son, Glenn Thielen of Sterling; five daughters, Connie (Dr. James) Johnson of Sterling, Laurie (Lloyd) Sherman of Sterling,Vickie (Patrick) Leustek of Chisholm MN, Donna (Mike) Combs of Clearwater, FL, Renee (Mark) Willhite of Sterling; one sister, Lorraine (Charles) Albrecht of Littleton, CO; and special friend Ruth Fransen.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwin Thielen and Lester Thielen.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation in Sterling with Dalmus Meeks, officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, in Sterling with Military Rites.

A memorial has been established to Rock River Home & Hospice.
