Obituary of Barbara Rangel

BARBARA  RANGEL

STERLING- Barbara Rangel, 80, entered into Heaven on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at her home.

    Barbara was born August 8, 1937 in Paducah, KY, the daughter of Marvin and Myrtle (Powers) Gibson.  She married Margarito Rangel on July 27, 1978 in Sterling.

    Survivors include her husband Margarito; two daughters, Robin Pettorini of Knoxville, TN and Pamela (Okaka) Dokotum of Lira, Uganda; five sons, Pat (Brenda) Pettorini of Sterling, Brian Pettorini, Barry Pettorini of Sterling, Ronald (LaRin) Rangel of Sterling and Michael (Erin DeSutter) Rangel of Sterling; step-children, Minerva (Craig) Boyungs of Colorado Springs, CO, John Rangel of Sterling, Fred (Missy) Rangel of Sterling, Tony (Kathy) Rangel of Davenport, IA, Margarito Jr.  (Anna) Rangel of Addison and Jorge (Patti) Rangel of Rockford; two sisters, Linda McGee of Newton, NC and Lois Muldoon of Sterling; one brother, Ernie (Chona) Gibson of the Philippines; twelve grandchildren, Josh Pettorini, Megan Pettorini, Adam Voshell, Marty Voshell, Janelle Williamson, Amina Dokotun, Alex Rangel, Jeremy Hardeson, Nicholas Hardeson, Nicholas Hardeson, Brian Hardeson, Gregory Hardeson and Marquis Love; thirteen step-grandchildren, Freddy Rangel, Nicole Rangel-Osborn, Nathan and Matthew Straub, Tricia Rangel, Mike Rangel, Sidney Kohl, Chelsea Rangel, Jordan Van Osdel, Craig Boyungs, Jessie Boyungs, Dylan Backman, Monica Swintek and several great-grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael and Dennis Pettorini; one sister, Clara Pettinger and one brother, Charles Gibson.

  Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling with Pastor Larry Harts, from City of God, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday at the funeral home.

  A memorial has been established to Happy Tails and Rock River Hospice and Home.
