Obituary of Evangelina Barajas

Evangelina Barajas Sterling - Evangelina Barajas, 63, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at her home. Evangelina was born January 3, 1949 in Mexico City, Mexico, the daughter of Jesus and Concepcíon (Vasquez) Flores. She married Genaro Barajas on July 28, 1973. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1985. She later married Mauricio Granados on December 29, 1990. Evangelina was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include one daughter, Jeannette Barajas, of Sterling; one son, Richard Barajas, of Sterling; Mauricio Granados of Sterling; three sisters, Guadalupe Flores and Claudia (Rene) Garcia, both of Mexico City, Mexico, and Alicia (Leo) Cuevas, of Alamogordo, New Mexico; two brothers, Jesus and Jorge Flores, both of Mexico City, Mexico and a large number nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Genaro; and her parents. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Reverend Juan Ayala officiating. A private burial for family will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM, Saturday, prior to services at the Church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements were made by Schilling Funeral Home. A memorial has been established, all funds received will be donated in Evangelina's name to the Northern Illinois Samoyed Assistance program.
