Obituary of Dorothy M. Sollars

ROCK FALLS- Dorothy M. Sollars, 92, died, Sunday September 30. 2018 at CGH Medical Center.

    Dorothy was born July 4, 1926 in Rock Falls, the daughter of Elmer H. and Helen (Reeser) Woods. She married Robert E. Sollars on February 22, 1946 at St. Mary Church, Sterling. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1992.

Dorothy was an excellent tennis player who participated in tennis at Westwood Sports Complex in Sterling. She played in several competitions both in Sterling and the surrounding city clubs. She enjoyed the friendships of her friends who played in these contests with her. Dorothy was a devoted Christian who passed these values on to her children and grandchildren by word and example. She was an encouragement to her children and grandchildren in their reading, studies, and activities. She was the center of her family, loved and cherished, and she will be missed.

    Survivors include, one daughter, Donna J. (Gary R.) Spencer of Rock Falls; one son, Robert A. (Rebecca) Sollars of Ohio; one sister, Marie (Gerald) Pontsler of Sterling; three grandchildren, Robert L. Sollars of Sterling, Daniel C. Sollars of Dixon and Martha L. Mauch of Sterling; and 7 great-grandchildren, Nicole Sollars, Danice and Tressa Sollars, all of Dixon; Jacob and Allison Sollars of Elizabeth; and Spencer and Samuel Mauch of Sterling

    She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband, Robert E. Sollars and one sister, Elizabeth Hadley.

   Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls with Dalmus Meeks, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, Sterling.

    A memorial has been established to Harvest Bible Church of Rock Falls.
