Obituary of Elmer Young

Elmer R Young age 94 passed away at 10:40pm on Thursday November 15th 2018 from complications from Diabetes. He resided at Regency Care of Sterling, IL for several years.  He passed peacefully and was comforted by Compassus Hospice Care. According to his wishes cremation has taken place.  A private burial will follow at a later date. He retired from Frantz Corporation (Sterling Ball Bearing Division) at age 62.  After his retirement from Frantz, he worked as custodian at Northland Mall and during Christmas Holidays was the Santa Clause for several years.  Preceding him in death were his wife, Alice LaVonne (Hurley) of 61 years, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 4 sons, Richard, Gene, Roger, Jack, and 1 grandson Rob Smith. Survivors include one son Elmer Ray (Colleen) Young, Sister-in-law Audrey Burke, 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  Many thanks to Regency Care Staff and Compassus Hospice Staff for all of their caring and support. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Compassus Hospice of Galesburg, IL or the Diabetes Foundation.
