John McCue

Obituary of John McCue

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sunday July 9th, John McCue passed at his home in Byron with his family. He was 64 years old and would have celebrated his 65th birthday at the end of July. He is survived by his three children: Melissa, Amanda, and Shane McCue.

In his twenties and thirties, John was a semi-professional bowler. He enjoyed bowling as well as spending time with his family. Some of his best memories were spent at his home in Des Plaines, IL where in the summer he set up a backyard volleyball court for his family and neighbors while hosting cookouts. He also enjoyed weekend getaways with his family to the Dells whenever he could.

He loved fishing and was preparing for a fishing vacation in Texas at the time of his passing. He enjoyed sharing his hobbies with his family and the memories of his son catching fish in the Dells, cheering his daughter on at her fights, and fishing with his other daughter.

John was an electrician and contractor and loved project houses. Each house throughout his life has remnants of his handiwork, from outdoor decks to total home renovations. He loved using his skills to support those around him and enjoyed fixing up his daughters' places anytime he visited them in Texas.

John met his friend Chris after moving in across the street from him in 2017. Chris was working on a major outdoor project, and John just started trimming trees and moving brush without asking. That is how John made friends everywhere he went.
