Obituary of Maribel Sanchez-Locey

  Maribel Sanchez-Locey died Friday October 6, 2023 at Rock River Hospice & Home surrounded by family.  Maribel was born April 4, 1976 in Guerrero Mexico, and then came to the United States in 1978. She was the daughter of Raul and Francelia (Menez) Sanchez.  She married Calvin Locey on October 15, 2022 in Rock Falls. 

   Maribel enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, she loved music but Cumbia dancing was her favorite, log cabin weekend getaways, and she had an amazing artistic ability. She was a great wife, friend, big sister, daughter, but most importantly a mother.

   Survivors include her husband Calvin Locey; two sons Gustavo Hernandez and Sebastian Locey; two daughters Lauren Locey and Faith Locey; maternal grandparents Juan (Lupe) Trujillo; parents Raul (Francelia) Sanchez; two brothers Raul (Priscella) Sanchez Jr., and David Sanchez; four sisters Rosa Sanchez, Nancy (Randy Rippy) Sanchez, Zulamit Ortiz, and Rosa (Zach Lopez) Sanchez; several nieces and nephews.

   Maribel was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents.

   Funeral services will be 11AM Tuesday October 10, 2023 at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. Visitation will be 5PM-7PM Monday October 9, 2023 also at Schilling Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

   A memorial has been established.
