Obituary of Margery Spooner

  Margery Spooner, age 100, of Sterling died February 2, 2024 at Parkway Center. Born September 22, 1923 in Sterling, daughter of Marietta and August Kohl. Married Arza Spooner on January 19, 1947. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1941 and Jane Lamb Hospital, Clinton, IA in 1945. In 1946 she attended Baylor University Hospital, Dallas, TX and graduated with a postgraduate degree in operating technique. She then attended Sauk Valley College followed by the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.  She worked in area hospitals as a R.N. for many years.

   Survivors include Kristine (Marty) Nelson, Kevin (Delia) Spooner, Kara Erlenbaugh, four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. 

   There is no visitation. Private graveside services for the family will be held, and officiated by pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church for which she was a lifelong member.
