STERLING-James Ray Galloway, 75, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at his residence. He was employed as a supervisor at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company, prior to retirement in 1992. James was born October 23, 1933 in Sterling. The son of George and Ethel (Starr) Galloway. He married Jean S. Sonneman on June 6, 1953 at the First Christian Church, Sterling. She survives. Survivors also include, three daughters, Ann (Joe) Conway and Patty (Brian) Hurley, both of Sterling and Susan (Scott) Uknes of Apex, NC; one son, Barry (Gina) Galloway of Rochester, NY; two brothers, Weldon (Allene) Galloway and George Galloway, both of Sterling; and six grandchildren, Haley and Hannah Moore, James and Kelly Galloway and Melissa and Ryan Hurley; and special friends James and Marilyn Robinson of Sterling. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Hurley; one granddaughter, Alison Hurley; one sister in infancy, Thelma Galloway and three brothers, Kenneth, Samuel and Robert Galloway. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, May 29, 2009 at the First Christian Church of Sterling, with the Reverend David Yonker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church of Sterling and Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
