Eugene D. Bollman, 84, formerly of Rock Falls, died Thursday January 14, 2016 at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. Mr. Bollman was born March 18, 1931 in Hume Township, the son of Lawrence and Louise (Hagerman) Bollman. He married Smaida Grikmanis May 18, 1958 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2013. Eugene was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sterling. Eugene farmed in Hume Township for many years, and retired from Northwestern Steel & Wire in 1996. He enjoyed harness racing at the Quad City Downs. Survivors include two daughters, Pam (Dave) Strike of Prophetstown, and Mindy (Rick) Chapman of Fenton; two sons Marty Bollman of Port Byron, and Al (Shari) Bollman of Ballwin MO; one brother Wayne (Shirley) Bollman of Rock Falls; one sister Wilma Linman of Hampton; five grandchildren, Shannyn Bollman, Blake Bollman, Hannah Strike, Heather Strike, and Mary Chapman; one great-grandson Daevion Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Smaida; two brothers Merle and Lloyd Bollman. Memorial services will be held 11A.M. Saturday January 23, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, in Sterling, with the Reverend Mark Oehlert, of St. John’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Visitation will be Saturday January 23, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, Sterling, from 10-11A.M. Cremation rites have been accorded.
