DONALD L. PORTER ROCK FALLS-Donald L. Porter, 52, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at CGH Medical Center. Don was employed by Northwestern Steel & Wire as an electrician, and also worked for Porter Brothers Asphalt and Sealing. He loved spending time with family and friends, some of his favorite activities included hunting, fishing, trapping, and the great outdoors. He enjoyed weight lifting and helping others achieve their goals, as well. Don will always be remembered for his positive attitude, and great sense of humor. Don was born June 27, 1964 in Sterling, the son of Clinton and Norma (Broers) Porter. Survivors include his parents, Clinton and Norma Porter of Rock Falls; two sons, Matthew and (Savana) Porter of Sterling and Joshua Porter of Rock Falls and one brother Steve Porter of Rock Falls. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Abiding Word Church, Sterling with the Rev. Scott Porter, pastor, officiating. Visitation will be from 9AM-12PM, prior to services at the church. Funeral service will be at 12PM, and burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. The memorial will be gifted for an automatic door opener for handicapped accessibility at Abiding Word Church, Sterling. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com. Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling.
