SEAN DAVID GERDY STERLING - Sean David Gerdy, 40, died Monday, December 3, 2012 at his home, after a year long, and hard fought battle of Cancer. He was employed as the safety coordinator/project manager for Sterling Commercial Roofing. Sean enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his fiance, playing Frisbee with Diesel at the park, Fishing with his Dad and friends, and was an amazing cook Sean was also an avid NASCAR fan, with Tony Stewart being his favorite driver. Sean was born April 28, 1972 in Sterling, the son of F. Lee and Kathryn (McDonnell) Gerdy. Survivors include his parents, Lee and Kathy Gerdy, of Sterling; maternal grandmother Jackie Price of Sun City AZ; his fiancé, Ashley Nance, of Sterling; one sister, Heather (Austin) Hanabarger, of Camp Lejeune, NC; three nephews Brennan, Jace and Landyn Hannabarger, all of Camp Lejeune; and special friend, Diesel. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph & Lois Gerdy; maternal grandfather, Herbert McDonnell; Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 7, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Sterling with the Monsignor Bill McDonnell, officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday at the Schilling Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.
