-Orin J. Peterson, 89, died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Coventry Living Center. He was a Life Insurance salesman for many years, prior to retirement. Orin was born May 9, 1924 in Ames, IA. He served in the United States Army. He married Murial C. Clark, on August 23, 1946. Orin loved fishing in Michigan, playing cards, was active in the Whiteside County Board and Sterling Kiwanis. He was also a member of New Life Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Murial of Sterling; two sons, Tim (Karen) Peterson of Louisville, KY and Brian Peterson of KS; one daughter-in-law, Tammy Saenz of Rock Falls, three grandchildren, Lyndsey Peterson of Rock Falls, Katie Peterson of Chicago and Suzanne Peterson of KS and four great-grandchildren, Colton, Carson, Emma and Gracie Peterson. Funeral services will be held at 10AM Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at New Life Lutheran Church, Sterling with the Reverend William Sullivan, pastor, officiating and Reverend Phillip Gronbach co-officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. A memorial has been established.
