CLIFFORD E. JOHNS STERLING- Clifford E. Johns, 92, of Sterling, died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Polo Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was employed at Kraft Foods in Milledgeville. Clifford was born September 17, 1919 in Rippey, IA, the son of Everette L. and Leone P. (Chambers) Johns. He served in the United States Army. He married Lila Anderson on August 4, 1942. She preceded him in death in July 1973. He then marrried Jane Herriot, she also preceded him in death. Clifford was a member of Milledgeville Methodist Church and Sterling American Legion Post 296. Survivors include one daughter, Betty J. Hook of Polo; four step-children, Mike (Lorena) Herriot of CO, Dan (Val) Herriot of Oregon, Rhonda (Tom) Satterfield of Pacifica, CA and Al Herriot of Racine WI; one sister, Darlene Read of Elizabeth; four grandchildren, John Hook of Minneapolis, MN, Jeffrey (Julie) Hook of Alexandria, MN, Suzanne (James Lawson) Hook of Dixon, Howard (Nancy) Hook, Jr. of Hanover, MN; seven step-grandchildren, Patrick, Deena, Libby, Nick, Joel, Brian and Laura and four great-grandchilden, Darren, Ashley and Ivan Hook and Rachel Hoelscher. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Reverend Paul Judd, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at South Elkhorn Grove Cemetery, Milledgeville. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
